The birth stories of Jesus have their share of Kings and Nobles, but those aren’t the ones we cherish. The parts we love are the grace of God shown to a lonely old couple, or to a confused teenaged girl, or to working-class shepherds on the night shift.

Stories like that help us locate ourselves in the narrative. If Christ came to them, He can come to me—for me. That’s how I want us to worship this week. Unburdening our hearts to the Lord, laying down our fears, saying ‘YES!’ To the One who calls us—meets us where we are, and calls us by name…
