We serve a God who listens and knows our hearts and fears, even when we don’t have the strength to speak it. Joshua was called by God, called to lead God’s chosen people from the wildness into the Promised land, and I believe Joshua was fearful. I think he questioned if he had what it took to do what God had called him to do or if he had what it takes to deal with what the world was going to throw at him. In Joshua’s story we see how God kept his promises, strengthened Joshua and gave him courage. God is with us, he goes before us, and he reminds us of his faithfulness throughout the generations. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 We are going to serve and worship God, surrounded by the fact that he is our strength and our courage. It is not our own strength, but God's strength in us. Have you seen where God has given you the strength to do what God has called you to do?
