There’s no guarantee that those who come behind you will value the things you have treasured. Solomon realized it and said, “I must leave it all to the one who comes after me. And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish?” (Eccl. 2:18-19). After Abraham had built his altars and called on the name of the Lord, we had to wait and see if that relationship with God would survive into the next generation, and the next… I know people whose number one prayer is for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to fall deeply in love with Jesus. Here’s a question for you: What is the spiritual legacy that you have received? What spiritual legacy will you pass along?
