In any relationship, 1 thing is certain: there will be conflict. When this happens, we have the opportunity to forgive. Beyond forgiveness, we may even be able to pursue reconciliation.
Here’s a few takeaways from this message:
Forgiveness and reconciliation are two different things.
Forgiveness can be one-sided: The offended can absorb the pain and forgive
Reconciliation is two-sided: A process conditioned on the attitude and actions of the offender and offended
If you’re the offender:
1. Acknowledge the wrong.
2. Demonstrate change.
If you’ve been offended:
1. Acknowledge the wrong done to you.
2. Acknowledge and accept the demonstrated change.
Reconciliation is not easy and isn’t always possible, but God can use the offense for good.
