God's Bigger Story

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.

Isaiah 9:2

Everything stops for Christmas. Even things that don’t stop wish they could (think First Responders, Health Care Workers, etc.). Memories (whether awesome or awful), hopes (some reasonable, some not). But what happens when ‘hopes’ become ‘dreads’?

Last year’s celebration may have left your cup less than half full. Expectations went unrealized. Gatherings passed unattended. So, what will it take to really make it Christmas for you this year?

Have you ever needed a rescue? This Sunday let’s invite Jesus to reveal the bigger story. Christmas is not the beginning. It is God’s response to a deeper need—a longing that nothing else can meet.

Meditate awhile on Isaiah 9:2, 9:6.

Exodus 3 talks about a burning bush instead of a Christmas tree, but hear God’s heart of rescue:

·        I will bring you out…

·        I will free you from…

·        I will redeem you…

·        I will receive you…

·        I will bring you to Myself…

(Exodus 6:6-8)

Let’s worship around all that!

I LOVE Being Your Pastor!
