The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
Matthew 21:9-10
What is so great about the timing of Palm Sunday this year is that we’ve been reading through the books of Samuel, Kings and Chronicles and one of the major themes of these books is the Messiah who will come from the line of David (2 Samuel 7). And as Jesus enters Jerusalem, the beginning of what we call Holy Week, he is met with joy and excitement because the long-awaited King, the Son of David, has arrived.
But even in the midst of the celebration, the crowd is still unclear about all that is taking place and they ask, “Who is this?”
That is such an important question and to prepare for our time together, read Matthew 21:1-10, as we ask ourselves this same question, “Who is Jesus?” See you at either 9:30am or 11am!
