23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”
-Mark 5:23
One of the distinguishing features of the Gospel of Mark is how quick paced it is, but yet in chapter 5 verses 21-43, Mark slows down and intertwines two stories that show how unhurried Jesus was as he did his earthly ministry.
You know, timing is such a big deal. We get frustrated and upset in our relationships, such as our marriage, friends, at work, and one of the main drivers of our frustration is timing. Things don’t happen quick enough or it’s too slow.
And I’m sure that is how our two main characters found in chapter 5 felt about Jesus. His timing didn’t seem right, he wasn’t moving quick enough, he was too unhurried. But yet, Jesus’ timing is always perfect and he is using it to reveal himself to us.
See you Sunday at 9:30am or 11am!
