‘Be shepherds of God’s flock—not because you must, but because you are willing…’ 1 Peter 5:1
Where do you turn for Spiritual cover?
Are you willing to take responsibility for your own soul care?
Will you let God restore you—strong, firm, and steadfast (1 Peter 5:10)?
Peter talks to us all about the need to oversee and shepherd our lives before God. I keep thinking about the airplane instruction to first place the oxygen mask securely on your own face before helping others…
Here’s the deal. Somebody has to take charge. Somebody has to be the grown up. Somebody has to take responsibility for my spiritual life, the care and feeding of my soul. Ultimately, that has to be me. God will empower it and show me how—but I’ve never known God to force-feed me. How about you?
‘Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand…’
‘Be alert and sober minded…’
‘Resist the ‘Devil-Lion’ enemy of your soul’ (1 Peter 5:6-9)
This Sunday we’ll look at Peter’s ‘owner’s manual’ for soul-care. Read 1 Peter 5—the whole chapter—multiple times to help prepare your heart for worship. Come with a heart ready to take responsibility for your walk with God.
I LOVE Being Your Pastor!
