Knowing that there is an eternity beyond this world and that there is a fulfillment of all that God intended for his creation gives me a different focus on what matters most. It keeps me praying for the people that I love to come to know Jesus as their savior especially my own babies. It helps me to remember that I can entrust my children to a God because life is so much bigger than this world. It helps me to remember that the troubles of this world truly are temporary and that I can trust God with everything. It helps me to love without expectation and to freely forgive many people in my life, but especially a group of teenagers that God gives me the privilege to teach every year. It helps me to focus on the people in my life and not the tasks that I need to complete which is a huge shift for someone who is great at mastering the to-do list.
Knowing all of this leaves me with such a sense of peace; Peace in knowing the struggles of this world might be hard, but they are limited and even when they feel long they are really short in the realm of a forever eternity. It’s not always an easy idea to put into practice, but God helps me to focus on that when uncertain or devastating times arrive. A by-product is that He helps me not to worry about the outcome.
