Who We Are

First Baptist Church has been around for over 150 years and in all that time our purpose has never changed. We exist to connect people to God, each other and the world. We know this family of faith is only a small part of Christ's global Church comprised of all followers of Christ who are committed to:

  • Worshiping the one true God
  • Telling others about the gift of Jesus Christ
  • Connecting in Biblical community
  • Teaching and encouraging one another towards becoming more like Christ
  • Serving the Church and those far from God in the name of Jesus Christ

5 Essentials

The BIBLE tells us the truth about GOD, who reveals the truth about PEOPLE, whose only hope is JESUS' redemption and the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

We believe THE BIBLE, comprised of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is wholly inspired by God, without error in revealing God's truth through the use of narrative, poetry and teaching. It is the only reliable source of truth about GOD.

We believe in ONE GOD, who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect and eternal. He loves us with an everlasting love! We believe all PEOPLE have been designed to be in relationship with God. But we are sinners-- by birth and by choice. We have chosen to elevate our own desires above God's plan and have cut off our relationship with God.

We believe in JESUS CHRIST, as the only path to a restored relationship with God and look forward to Christ's coming return in fulfillment of the Bible's teachings.

We believe the HOLY SPIRIT fills true followers of Christ; empowering us to live out God's purpose for our lives, giving Spiritual Gifts for the building of the Kingdom of God and revealing to us the actions, habits and patterns in our lives that are not pleasing to God.

5 Values

5 Values we want to live by:

God Centered: Not dragged along by God, or kicked along by God but living out a real relationship with God in our everyday lives and the life of our church.

Relational: Genuinely treasuring each other, not just tolerating one another. Everyone God brings into our family is here because they have something we need, and we have something they need. We want to give and receive.

Grace-Filled: As we treasure each other, we want to see one another through God's eyes; bearing one another's burdens, weeping with those who weep and rejoicing with those who rejoice.

Real: It's risky, but we want to be genuine with one another (not hiding behind pretense or posturing). It's the only way we can hope to live out these values, and it leads us to . . .

Change: Real Transformation--being shaped into the image of Christ.
